As the manufacturing and test engineer you are responsible for the entire manufacturing process including: tooling, facilities, software, and documentation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support production on process in PCBA environment and develop comprehensive understanding of the entire manufacturing and test process
- PCBA / product testing – guide technicians and debugging of failed units
- Work with other departments for yield improvement
- Generate the following types of documentation: test plans, test specifications, test hardware requirements and descriptions, test equipment lists, test procedures, debug/troubleshooting manuals, test capability presentations, etc.
- Solderability IPC standard, PCBA solderability evaluation test
- Document the process including bill of materials, work instructions, tooling drawings, facility operations and maintenance procedures
- Maintain a positive and creative work culture
- Develop and maintain process failure modes and effects analysis
- Implement failure mode mitigations
- Train operators on the process and support recurring certification programs
- Remove operational blockers and make sure the process is running nominally
- Record, analyse, and report process metrics to predict and mitigate process failures before they occur
- Root cause process failures and implement corrective actions
- Drive quality, throughput, and cost improvements to the product design and manufacturing process
- Manage configuration changes and enforce configuration control throughout the process
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in an engineering related field
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing product testing experience
- Experience in SMD (surface-mount device) process in PCBA
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience with PCBA testing such as: manual probes, hipot, thermal testing and HALT/HASS
- Demonstrated ability to program in languages relevant to test machines such as: Beckhoff PLC, C#, and MSSQL
- Demonstrated experience designing and manufacturing test harnesses for PCBAs
- Demonstrated experience developing PFMEAs and controlling process variables in a production setting
- Demonstrated experience reading complex electrical schematics including power and/or RF circuits
- Demonstrated experience determining root cause of PCBA failures reworks
- Demonstrated ability to perform PCBA reworks, including BGA, and train others
- Demonstrated ability to program in applicable languages such as C++ and Python
- Demonstrated experience with PCBA manufacturing, especially SMT processes such as part placement, reflow, selective solder, and x-ray
- Ability to perform test data analysis to determine pass/fail and in-family as well as root cause anomalies
